Raymond Groth

Raymond Groth is a Managing Director and founding partner of Axum, and he brings decades of experience in capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, and investing to Axum.  His responsibilities at Axum include identifying, evaluating, and structuring potential transactions.  Mr. Groth was an adjunct professor at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and has served on a number of corporate boards.

Previously, he served as head of the Mergers and Acquisitions Group at First Union Securities (now Wells Fargo).  Prior to that, he was with the Mergers and Acquisitions Group at The First Boston Corporation (now Credit Suisse), where he led numerous acquisitions, including DuPont’s acquisition of Conoco, Inc., the sale of Hughes Aircraft Company to General Motors Corporation, B.A.T. Industries’ acquisition of Marshall Field & Company, and the sale of Piedmont Aviation to US Airways.  Mr. Groth joined First Boston after practicing law with Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York.  Mr. Groth received a BBA in Accounting with honors from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a JD from Yale University Law School.
